The Donut ‘Do – Inspired Fun

Lucy’s summer camp had a dress-up day and we needed an idea. Fortunately, my niece had just done a fun “crazy hair day” activity where she’d come up with a really creative hairstyle, so that was our initial inspiration.

I searched Pinterest for more ideas and found someone who had done a great style where they made a bun in their hair that was donut-shaped and then put a decorated doily on it to look like frosting and sprinkles.

It’s amazing how a little spark of an idea can become a full-blown inspiration with the catalyst of social media. Molly already had a donut costume that she’d worn one Halloween. We put it all together and Lucy ended up winning second place in the contest.

It was pretty cool to get to call my sister and tell her what she and my niece had inspired. It was a lot of fun to take an idea, see what else was out there and then be able to come up with something fun and unique of our own making!
