Core de Force Live Workout

Core de ForceSuper Saturday in Phoenix was a great time, with an introduction to Core de Force. Presented by trainers Joel Freeman and Jericho McMatthews, it’s a tough, mixed martial arts-style program with a boxing influence.

I am a Plain Jane when it comes to workouts. I can learn something and master it and keep doing it for months on end. However, I know how important it is to change things up, try new things and push yourself outside your comfort zone—especially if you want to see continued results.

I’ve tried kickboxing classes before, and never felt very strong in them. It’s an awkward workout, I think, until you know what you’re doing. But I know it works and I’m interested in seeing how it works on my body.

During the Core de Force workout, you stick to using your dominant side most of the time. It feels awkward, like I need to switch it up and use the other side to “even things out.” But that’s the way it’s done—the right way! There are a few moves where you switch and punch and kick with your other side, but my non-dominant side feels just like it should—non-dominant. But I know I’m working both sides of my body and balancing things out, even if it doesn’t always feel that way.

With this program, you do each round of exercises for three minutes, including boxing/MMA and a cardio spike, with a 30-second break between rounds. This gives you time to learn the moves so you can do them correctly and get the full benefit of them.

One interesting part of Core de Force is that the meal plan is a little different from some of the other Beachbody plans. It uses the container system, but with slightly different calculations. And then it adds containers in week two and even more in week three.

After doing the live workout, I knew I want to try out the whole program. After getting used to some of the moves, I felt more confident and I’m curious to see what kind of results I can get from it. It’s just the outside-my-comfort-zone workout I think I need.

I’ve added this program to my repertoire and will be sure to share my results. I know my body will appreciate the higher impact workouts, especially as we get closer to the holidays. If you’re interested in Core de Force, it’s available in several different challenge packs as well as a stand-alone program.
